Multi-state license management
Clinicians who hold licenses in several states face different renewal dates, different CME hours and different fees, and ClinLicense puts them side by side.
A single timeline
Every renewal sits on one twelve-month timeline, so you can see when two states renew in the same month and plan the CME for both together. The app can also suggest renewing licenses together when their dates are close.
Rules that differ by state
The hours, the cycle and the mandated topics change from board to board. The state requirement pages show what is recorded for each jurisdiction and how recently it was reviewed, and the app applies the same data when it checks your CME.
Compact paperwork
Interstate Medical Licensure Compact letters, nurse compact multistate licenses and the documents each board asks for can be stored with the license they belong to. See the IMLC guide for how the process generally works.
A compact license or several single-state licenses
A nurse whose home state has implemented the Nurse Licensure Compact holds one multistate RN or LPN/LVN license that covers practice in the other compact states, while a state outside the compact still needs its own license. ClinLicense records the multistate license once with its home state and keeps each single-state license as a separate record with its own renewal date and CE rule.
- Example: an invented travel nurse with a Texas multistate RN license can take assignments in Arizona and Colorado under that one license, because both have implemented the compact.
- Example: the same nurse needs a California RN license for a California assignment, because California is not a compact member, so ClinLicense shows two nursing licenses with two renewal dates.
- Example: if she moves her primary residence to Washington, another compact state, she applies for a Washington multistate license, and the Texas multistate license is deactivated once the new one is issued.
Every state page shows its compact status, and the compact guide for RNs and LPNs explains home state rules. Advanced practice authority is not covered by the compact, as the NP guide explains.
Cost planning
The free license cost calculator totals recorded fees for the states you choose and says clearly when a figure is not yet verified.
