CME and CE contact hour tracking
ClinLicense logs your CME credits or nursing CE contact hours against the rules for each state where you are licensed, so you can see hours earned, hours remaining and the topics still outstanding.
Credit that counts toward the right cycle
Each entry records the date, the hours, the credit type and the topic, and ClinLicense matches it to the cycle of every license you hold. A single course can count toward more than one state when both boards accept it, and the app shows where it counted.
Mandated topics and frequencies
Many boards require specific topics, such as controlled-substance prescribing, ethics or implicit bias, on a schedule that differs by state. The requirement data records whether a topic repeats every cycle or only once, and the app flags the topics you have not yet covered. The data is a planning aid, and each state entry on our state pages shows when it was last reviewed or says plainly that it is not yet verified.
Contact hours for nurses
Nursing boards usually count continuing education in contact hours, and some accept a national certification or another competency route in place of hours. ClinLicense records each course in contact hours against every nursing license it counts toward, alongside any CME a physician on the same team logs.
- Example: Marisol Avery, RN, an invented critical care nurse, holds a Texas multistate RN license and a California RN license. A 2-contact-hour course on sepsis is logged once and counted toward both renewal cycles where each board accepts it, while a Texas nursing jurisprudence and ethics topic stays open on the Texas license until she completes it.
- Example: Theo Lindqvist, APRN, an invented family nurse practitioner, logs pharmacology hours separately, so the hours his state board and his certifying body each ask for are visible on their own.
The nursing CE requirements guide compares the recorded RN and LPN/LVN figures for every state.
Certificates stay with the credit
Attach the completion certificate to the entry, so that an audit request means opening one record instead of searching an inbox. See how to document CME for what a board is likely to ask for.
