Free License and CME Tracker Spreadsheet
If you are not ready for an app, a spreadsheet is a respectable way to track credentials, and these two templates give you a sensible set of columns.
Download the templates
- Credential tracker (CSV): one row per license, registration or certification.
- CME and CE log (CSV): one row per course, in CME credits or nursing contact hours, with the states it counts toward.
The example rows include a physician license and DEA registration, an RN multistate license, a California RN license, a CCRN certification and a nursing CE course, so you can delete the ones that do not apply. Both are plain text files, they contain no formulas and no personal data, and they open in any spreadsheet program.
How to use the credential tracker
- Add one row per credential and fill the expiration date.
- Set the reminder lead days so that you know when to start, then sort by the reminder date.
- Use the document location column to say where the PDF lives.
How to use the CME log
- Record each course once with its hours, credit type and topic.
- List the states it counts toward in the last column, separated by semicolons.
- Total the hours per state and compare them with the state requirements.
Where a spreadsheet stops working
Spreadsheets do not remind you, do not know the rules and do not attach documents. See ClinLicense and spreadsheets for an honest comparison.
Keep it private
A credential spreadsheet can hold license and DEA numbers, so store it somewhere encrypted and do not email it unprotected.
Keep the whole file on your own devices
ClinLicense is free for individual clinicians. It needs no account, and your records stay encrypted on your own devices.
